Sending cryptocurrency today usually means copying and pasting a long, unreadable wallet address — and getting even one character wrong can mean a lost transaction. Crypto Identity is building a simpler alternative: a single, anonymous username on the Ethereum blockchain that you can share to receive crypto, without giving up your privacy.
We believe managing cryptocurrency shouldn't require trusting a company with your personal information, or memorizing strings of hexadecimal characters. Crypto Identity is designed around two ideas that don't usually go together: convenience and anonymity. Your identity is easy to share and remember, while the underlying addresses and activity behind it stay private — by design, not by policy.
The Crypto Identity app is still in development. Rather than leave this site empty while we build, we're using it — and our blog — to teach the blockchain and cryptocurrency fundamentals that our own product is built on. If you're new to this space, that's exactly who we're writing for.
Some of the thinking behind Crypto Identity comes from our own academic work: “A Survey on Blockchain Technology: Concepts, Applications, and Issues” (Gamage, Weerasinghe & Dias, SN Computer Science, 2020), which surveys how blockchain evolved from Bitcoin's original double-spending solution into the broader technology it is today, along with the open issues researchers are still working through.
